As Tim said... Radiator, fan, flush. Prolly a pressure bottle too. No way you should overheat in this weather.

Open systems aren't a cure all for cooling issues with renix. If you aren't keeping up on it, an open system will overheat just as fast.

My jeep overheated on Sunday, in this nice weather.

Course, my radiator failed so I guess that's as good of an excuse as any.

I do have a new fan clutch on the way as my old one was way beyond shot.

Agreed, but if you overhaul the entire system like I did, you might as well convert to open for the ease of maintenance.

The housings are the same strength wise. The weakness is from the way the gears are cut as opposed to HP axles.
Thanks, I appreciate that info. I had read it before but couldn't remember until you all cleared it up.

I have done a complete overhaul on it. Any cooling system that is not maintained will fail, simple.

I don't see any ease of maintenance... They are they same. Buy a pressure bottle at autozone with a lifetime guarantee and never have to buy one again. Lifetime warranty

I am curious about the pros from converting to open.

Lifetime warranty is fine, but you can add fluid to an open system any time, and you don't have to bleed it or worry about air. Warranty has nothing to do with ease of maintenance.

Also, the pressure bottle is a wear part. I'd prefer not to deal with that so I don't have to worry about needing a warranty.

Everything is new except for the bottle, every cap I put on doesn't seat right with the bottle, I'm getting a new tank with cap so I know it's made for that tank

Bottle is probably cracked or has expanded to many times.

My heater valve blew on me in Texas, I replaced it and noticed my cap wouldn't screw on tightly. I bought a new cap and fixed it. But with all aftermarket caps the threads aren't the same as the bottles, one part number is universal to many different tanks
