Well I went to school for auto body, worked in the business for about a year at a street rod shop. Loved it but it wasn't for me because at the time I was young and spent too much money.
I'm a shipper/receiver for Stroehmann bread now and I make good money.
If I was you and wanted to put alot of work into my jeep I would go to school for like working on classic cars and alot of fabrication stuff. That way you learn to weld, shape metal, build chassis, motors, suspension work, etc. You can use the skills you learn on basically anything you wanna build. I did it but I made a hobby out of it and am happy. You could always try diesel tech or marine tech
Good luck

One of the many flaws with the school system is preparing us for a career. You really need to think about the things you love to do and how can that be applied in the business field. I got a summer time job and it's turned into an 18 year career. I went to college and gripped out 40 hours away from graduating because I knew I wasn't going to leave my job. I would not do the same way but things have worked out. If you are passionate about working on cars go for it but if not figure out what you ate passionate about. If your going to school you have a couple years still to figure it out.

Somebody once said that if you can find something you love to do and make a living at it, you will never work a day in your life.
