honing out some rough casting marks in the intake and exhaust runners is much easier and will have a little power gain, port matching is typically mucho heavy grinding

honing is what im thinking of doing. guy i work with who used to build race motors also said that it can create a higher chance of the gasket burning out. i dunno, i was just curious cause i am replacing my entire intake.

the casting marks are typically not on the mouth of the port so you dont have to worry with gaskets blowing out. Gasket matching or port matching is where you run into the gasket failure.
