You gonna regear it or buy a matching D30? And yes, I'd offer $100 and point out that you have to pay someone to have the perches reinstalled.

Yea, how hard is it to switch a Dana 44 to 3:55. I can. Weld the perches on, but he doesnt have to know that.

Regearing is money. Always. And I don't know you're welding ability, but yeah, the idea is that he doesn't know. One of the things I told the guy when I bought the MJ was that the tires were slick and they'd need to be replaced. He didn't know I had three sets of spares.

Here is the odd part....

Axle Gear Ratios

Jeep XJs came in several standard gearing ratios:
  • 3.07:1, manual transmission, I6 engine.
  • 3.54:1, automatic transmission, I6 engine with Dana 44 rear differential.
  • 3.54:1, manual transmission, I4 engine with Dana 35 rear differential.
  • 3.55:1, automatic transmission, I6, V6 engines; manual transmission, I4 engine.
  • 3.73:1, automatic transmission, I6, Tow Package, UpCountry Package.
  • 4.10:1, I6 engine
  • 4.56:1, automatic transmission, I4, offroad or tow package.
2:73?? It usually came in Auto's with the TOW PACKAGE....which would be 3:73....

Might be a typo.....

eidt: Oh...and that ad is a month old....

Jimmy, I was assuming 3.73, but he's in the same situation regardless. And it could've been an MJ44 if there are no perches.
That would either be 3.73 or 4.10. I don't recall which.

Yea its sold, oh well. I haven't heard anything from frosty about my axle, first he wanted it gone, now I can't get ahold of him. Though he is dealing with a lot rigjt now. Might just go buy a complete one from the jy for $80

I have 3 pay days left before Xmas....this is doable...we are having a good year since I got my job. I am currently at about a 40% debt to income ratio....awesome place to be....in other words....it only takes 40% of my take home income to pay the house and ALL bills....not including groceries...

Once Christmas is over I go into massive saving mode....since I am a contractor, I need a nest egg.
Must be nice.
