I put a new filter and gasket on and filled it up with Bar's Transmission Repair and Dex/Merc to the perfect amount by getting it hot and letting it run in neutral.
Took it around the block...RUNS GREAT! Actually, it runs better than when i got it. It shifts smooth and downshifts correctly when i stop. Not sure why it suddenly resurrected itself on a fluid and filter change....but i'm not complaining.
This is a huge weight off of my shoulders because i was looking at $500-1,200 in repairs, depending on if it needed a new tranny, rebuild, torque converter, etc. If it had cost that much, i would have probably parted it out. I'm just glad it's back to it's old self and i get to keep it.

Sorry bout the heep chris. Stupid hoodrats! I had my first xj stolen...got it back and all they took was my cb radio, cable and antenna...oh and a pistol oops. Not the tools, camping gear, skateboard in the back or new m/t's... I hate people

Yes but where does it say that the bellhousing will work? That the aw4 has the same bolt pattern as that torqueflight, regardless of bellhousings? Or the transmount? Is it a 21 spline output?
Basically, what research have you done or found that says this is a viable transmission to be put in?
