So... transfer case is not engaging. Here is my theory;

It has vacuum lines on it. My jeep does not have any vacuum lines of the sort. Would this cause the transfer case to not engage?

Its either that or its a 23 spline case that came out of an 87..

Mine's stuck in 2WD, but my Part Time light won't go off. I'm thinking clogged vacuum lines on mine. Related issue, but I don't really have insight into yours. I'm making **** up as I go

23 spline wouldn't have bolted up the shafts wouldn't have slipped over each other.

Engaging how? 4hi,N,4lo, or not at all? You swapped from a 242 to a 231. The shift linkage may be your issue.

What I'm getting at...did you shift it manually?

Did you get the shifter gate & range plate?

None of them, linkage is disconnected.

Shift it manually through 2hi, 4hi, n, 4lo. Nothing.

Shifter gate and range plate? Happen to have a pic?
