Sounds like the regulator is broke. Check the smaller gauge wiring coming out of the alternator.

i agree about the Glock in .40 S&W. glocks are very safe, accurate, and reliable weapons. the .40 S&W has plenty of power, but not too powerful. it's actually what our agency here in Harford County uses. though if it's just for a first gun, I do suggest a .22LR to get used to the shooting aspect. a Ruger MKIII is perfect for that.

also just starting watching breaking bad, there's a XJ in the pilot episode.
