well something is off - the pins should be the same size. You have the carrier the locker was in right? Measure the ring gear diameter.

With both the D35 and 8.25 having 10 bolt oval covers perhaps the cover was swapped

Might one carrier been a 3.73 and smaller, and the other been a 3.73 and bigger?
