I think the crimp in the stock downpipe takes it down to 1.75".

Not for stock motors. Anything beyond 62mm needs porting of the intake manifold to begin with.

I'm gonna spend some time and try to find that throttle body of mine tomorrow. Then maybe if the weather holds ill do injectors and tb at the same time.

Take that back, I do not know if you can bore a stock TB to 70mm, just know you can go up to a 70mm when purchasing

Or you can junkyard a GM vortec 4.3 1996-2002 70mm tb

And yes, you need porting, but there is a sense and need for bigger than 62
