Anyone ever just unbolted the door from the hing? Mine all break loose pretty easy, thought about doing it this way. Any objections?

Do you have speakers in the doors? You just going to add crimps? I also have power window and locks so I'm not messing with my doors for now.

These are a good type of option for going doorless too....wireless connectors.

the pins on the newer ones are pressed in, so to undo the hinges you have to cut them out. or so I've been told and that's what it looks like.
mickey, are you talking about taking off the hinges then? with the torx bits.

Jimmy, I'm also going to do kicker panels, so let me know how yous turn out/how you did them.

I am just cutting a round hole in the kick panels, then using a wood trim ring to space the speakers out an inch.

Yeah speakers, power windows and locks. Figure I can just take all the connections and turn them into two or three at the most on the drivers side and one or two on the passengers side, also make them easier to access. That way I only have to disco a couple and they're easy to get to.

Was thinking of relocating my speakers to the overhead. Maybe a pod of some sort right above the rearview mirror or something. Possibly put them along the center hump like a older wrangler. Not sure yet. If I'm running doorless I'm not completely concerned with music anyways as my exhaust and tires will drown out most of it.

And yes the torx bits. I did a little experiment not too long ago just to see if I could actually unbolt them, and I can. Then when I make my tube doors I'll set up nutplates on them so they bolt to the original hinge. Just my thought

I've seen some cherokee that have another speaker bar in the front. I would'nt mind doing that actually, would mean i don't need kicker panels, and keep the speakers away from water if I ever went that deep into water.

Also, when you take the hinges off don't you have to align the doors again?

Wonder how hard it would be too fabricate new hinges for the doors that are easy to remove (not the hinges, the door), and I could make tube doors that would go on the same hinge. be easily interchangable.

I'm installing a second sound bar behind the front seats for mine. The late model sb has a little more speaker angle which is what I'll prob go with

After I do the 11 gauge armor on the sides...I am going to use backing plates to mount YJ hinges to the outside of my doors/fenders.
