Frosty, you dont want sand, sand=silica and without a pressure fed respirator you will kill yourself. What are you trying to blast off? Plastic media is great for paint as it generates little heat so it doesn't warp panels, if its rust then I recommend al/ox *aluminum oxide* Just as good as sand and much safer 
Trust me, the fine coal slag will take it down to bare metal

We had a Guy doze off in the blasting room and in a matter of seconds he blasted through his blasting hood, coveralls, work shirt, under short and his entire nipple before be woke up with black beauty. Its nasty s*it lol

Once a month I would have to hardface the grooves in the AR plate....

Know about the garnet, walnut shells, alum oxide, ect....
We also did nickel slag for a while....
BGE Crane power plant was only 1/2 hr away, thats why they ended up setting up the plant
