Well Fridays I work 3pm-11pm and sundays 10am-6pm so we could go one of those days. When ever you get your stuff done to it just give me a heads up of when you would like to go. I can make it workOriginally Posted by junior3382
Gosh, tuesday's and wednesday's I work Open to close, 9-9. Fridays and sundays are my days off. However, since I blew out the steering box this week, i would need to wait until that is fixed anyways. I am also doing a cross-over steering conversion, in addition to a new steering box and frame braces, to help prevent breaks in the future. And my new tires, (32's) should be on in a few weeks.... So its not like I am so anxious I want to go right now! LOL... but definitely before everything freezes up around here.

I can probably make it by that friday, but I would not be able to stay for saturday. sadly, I would have to work on saturday. Would just the one day work? How much is it, and what time is the morning meet?

Okay, well once the steering is fixed, i will shoot you a PM on here and we can set up a time then! Thanks bro!
Well, after a new steering box, new power steering lines, a new steering resevoir and a new power steering pump, I am finally able to control this stupid thing....LOL.... I also added a frame brace for the steering box to prevent furture damage. I will try to get a picture tomorrow.
In addition, when it went up on the lift, realized my rear brake line was pulled way too tight and cracked. so it now has a six inch extension, tripple steel braided, BDS brake line in the rear. Next week, i will get the longer, steel braided lines for the front, as well as a 1" lift block and u-bolts to help fight the sag in the rear. Come spring, i will get a new spring pack, but for now, this will work just fine.
Also, and I am not sure if anyone can give some advice here, but I have learned that 32X11.5 might be too wide for my currently 7" rims. So i am looking at the BFGoodrich Mud Terrain KM2's in 33X10.50 to keep the same width. Though the lift claims to only clear 32's at the largest, with only a little trimming on the front allow these tires? In addition, has anyone had a chance to use these tires in the snow? The reviews are wild about rocks, mud, sand and more, but there is not a lot I can find on how they react to the slick winter roads here in PA......

Is the drop bracketry advantageous for on road?? It looks like I would tear those bad boys off while wheeling!Originally Posted by junior3382
Thank you, yeah i think you can order just the drop brakets from Rough Country. From past experiences, i have already seen a difference on this one in drive quality. plus they look good.
Adding the drop braketry made the ride more stable for turning and city driving. Think of it like ths, is it easier or harder to control your own movements while remaining perched on your tip toes? same concept here. They help keep the factory steering stable, like settling down on your heel while walking.
As for off-road use. They are rugged steel, and braced in several spots. According to RC they will take quite a beating over rocks and stuff without too much worry. However, I have yet to test that theory, once i do, I will let you know.
But as regards geometry, since the control arms move with your axle, for the most part, I am sure they will be out of the way. In fact, I would venture to bet that they would be harder to bend, snap or destroy then a long arm kit..... but I cannot speak from experience on that one.

Well, I wil know soon enough, I plan to get some use out of it this weekend. And no, I am building this for Off-road use, but I still use it as my DD, and needed to make sure it was stable and safe for my child to be in. You may not like or appreciate that point of view, but I am not worried about them getting in my way. after all, this is still a Jeep.....
Great job.
