Some pics I took...

This set is from the Closed section of Rt 65 and the cracks caused by the heat from the still burning underground mine fire. I think you can see some of the smoke rising from the ground in a few of the pics

yea, the ones we were on that day could be done in 2wd, in fact, i spent 99.9% of the time in 2wd. there was a small rocky section that i had to put it in 4hi to get through cuz we came around the bend and with my lil stock tires i didnt have enough momentum to make it, so rather than back up and go again, i went to 4hi and made it. and when we came out at the end, i used 4hi there to even though i knew i was gonna high center... other than that, i used 2wd the whole time... now to go back and explore some more...

it was more eerie than interesting, but the closed section of road was very interesting to see. as far as what is left of the town, there are a few houses and one main intersection and thats about it it.

Looks like you guys had a good time,
i'm not to far from there and never heard of it untill i came across this thread.
Looks like it would be a realy interesting place to explorer, just the history of it, and to see it would be realy cool.
please let me know if you guys plan to go back to further explore, would love to tag along.
