I would say so if you would stay for the weekend. I am right out of philly and we just go up for the weekend and camp, but i would say it is great time and is worth it to go!

Any chance I may run out of trails? My XJ is totally stock, can't afford to break anything major, daily driver/only vehicle.

Ben

There is a couple different options you have. I know I plan on making a trip up there soon in the next couple weeks. There are some other people on this forum that want to go and are stock. I am no expert but have been there before and know where some of the easier trails are and would be happy to show you around. I plan on posting a separate thread about it soon.

Or you can visit there website and go on there forum ( it would be a good idea to check out there website anyway) and there is a section that people post to get together. They will post like when and what type of trails they wanna ride. I often see people with stock trucks wanting to go out and most time a more experienced person will offer to help guide. http://www.rauschcreekoffroadpark.org/

Oh BTW while there are some very easy trails in the park, with anything there is always a chance that something could happen. With a more beginner run there will always be a spotter to lessen the risk of this happening.

If you need a Salvage inspection dont go to Mueller's outside of altoona. It took them almost three weeks to get it inspected and i still cant drive it because i am waiting for the rest of the paperwork from harrisburg.. they told us we had an appointment on friday, we got there and were told its first come first serve and to leave it.

Also, we had a broken headlight bezel, we asked the guy if it would need replaced to pass, he said its fine, dont worry about it it will pass.. we get a call 2 weeks later(they finally started inspection) that it wouldnt pass and they bought a new one for 40 bucks(instead of taking one out the jeep they had in the (JY).. just my $.02... and sorry for the rant.. im in clearfield county about 25 mins from harrisburg

Thanks for the help Skreed, I'll start checking out Rausch's forums. I know there's a chance of parts getting busted, I just wouldn't want to go if breaking was something I should expect.

Yeah, I definitely wont go there. I hate it when shops do that crap. Im sorry for ya man. What I want to know is why you would need a headlight bezel to pass inspection. I go to a guy(when I have to) on West Loop rd. like 10 minutes from my house in Hollidaysburg. Hes great and he lets me come into his garage to watch him work sometimes. This guy calls you up and tells you what needs to be done and then asks you what you want to do about it.

I have yet to find another person that agrees with the headlight bezel thing.. and the guy we wanted to go to didnt get registered for salvage vehicles after a change and he would call and let us know.. kinda blows.

I just go done lifting mine 4 inches, aa sye/ tom woods cv driveshaft, quick disconnects, rockkrawler track bar, moabs w/31inch mt/r's and i want to try it out. I just got the truck and this will be the first time I have had it out so I dont want to go crazy plus I dont have a tow hitch or hooks, if I get stuck is there a way to pull me out?

This will be my first run with my xj also so I don't plan on doing anything crazy. As far as recovery points go I suppose there always a way to get someone unstuck if you try hard enough. With your set-up I don't think needing to be yanked is a high likely hood on the easier stuff. But as with anything in the end it's your call. Also please post here https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f41/rausch-creek-june-14th-17299/ and give in your info if your going. Thanks

Yeah, I wouldn't mind an easy trail drive. I just have a little 2" lift, and new shocks on it, but I'm in dire need of sway bar bushings. My 4wd is cracking like crazy lately just taking it off roading onto Assateague Island on sand in Maryland. Probably should get that looked at....
