Does anyone know where to get a good 3" kit then in that price range?

Double, any of those days that you have available are good for me. I just still need to purchase my lift, but figuring out which is recommended seems to be my first thing, then installing it.

also, as for gearing, that chart is for manual trannys but mine is an auto. Do you think with 32s and an auto trans I should get a 4.11 gear?

i wouldn't worry about gearing at this point... how are the floor boards? in RI every 96 and below the floors were not there... rotted out! and about the rear springs?? saggy a$$ syndrome (S.A.S)? lol..

IMO I wouldn't use blocks or add a leaf kits.. I'd replace the springs.. Rusty's makes a a decent kit. 3" will run about 4 and change $$$$ but your getting all 4 springs... just my 2cents...

Hello..I`m right around the beltway in Highlandtown..I`ve owned a Jeep for a long time now (1994 Cherokee) and have changed just about everything on it short of swapping out the engine or transmission. I know my way around all the local junkyards pretty good too..Drop me a line if you ever have any issues come up..I`ve never installed a lift but have removed most of the items that need to come off when doing a lift..I actually have a 85% complete used Rusty's OffRoad 4.5" lift sitting in my basement I intented to put on one day but never got around to..All I`m missing from it is the shocks, rear brakeline extensions and the swaybar drop kit.

honestly here's the story with my jeep. The original owner was the girl's mom who I bought it off of. So basically I was buying it from the first owners. Plus (no offense) the lady I bought it from was a lesbian. The jeep is very very clean--still has original paint with no rust anywhere on the body! I even took off the ugly molding on the lower panels of the door, and there was no rust anywhere. I haven't peaked under the fenders or anywhere else but the car has been a MD/PA car its whole life.

As for the stance, the jeep sits perfect. No sag syndrome at all. To be honesty, the jeep sits higher than any other jeep I've seen considering she's ridin stock. I'll snap a photo of it tomorrow to get everyone's opinion.

I don't want to use blocks either..I'd rather be able to have full use of my suspension as opposed to being 2" higher.

So knowing that, any idears?

programbo, are you going to be selling the lift you have or u just mentioning that you can help with issues with the jeep? Either way, thanks for the line. I'm always down to meet up with people and mess around with whatever. You can find me on just about every car forum out there (350z, audizine, subaru, etc) so I'm not a creep haha.

Ben

*edit* as a matter of fact, I was planning to get the jeep checked out head to toe to see if there were any issues..everything seems perfect on it, but I was thinking the car might need a tune up and just scoped out to make sure there isn't something that may be needing fixing..better now than later. Also, The previous owner said she had the waterpump replaced not to long ago, but not the timing belt. And according to any car fax or past history reports she's given me, it doesn't appear the jeep has ever had it replaced. The odo reads 85,xxx and it's a 96. Should I get it done now?

My sister has a 2000 xj and she has replaced her water pump twice in two months. The first was a pepboys special and she ran only water. It corroded the pumping fins in 6 months and it was replaced with a higher grade pump. After/ during replacement she did a rad flush and thermostat was also replaced. No overheating problems since but time will tell.

4.lows run kind of hot to boot... my temp needle sits right at 210. with "vanilla" coolant (universal coolant that mixes with anything-dexcool, green, yadda yadda) and water wetter. no water pump yet, but new radiator.

but how them floors??? lol

Oh well if you`re not a creep then forget it. I toy with the idea of selling it but then every now and then I think about selling it. I wouldnt worry to much about the timing chain if the Jeeps been taken care of and it only has 85K miles on it. Maybe an intake manifold upgrade? I happen to have a few for sale.

That`s actually one of the things the newer intakes will do (At least it did for me on the highway) To combat all the power robbing side effects of required emissions control junk in 1999 Jeep redesigned the intakes to be larger in volume and better flow designed. This gives you about an extra 20 horsepower and in my case increased my highway mpg by 2-3.

So what did you do differently to the manifold? Is it just a bigger size or did you take stock one and modify it? How much also.

It`s a direct swap out. No modifications are required. Just unbolt the old one and bolt on the new one. The only modifications are that you need to reroute some of the vacuum hoses and in some cases you need to change the power steering pump bracket. Send me a PM about price.

To be exact, the intake manifolds off of a 2000-2001s have bigger runners.. They are a direct bolt on so no mods are needed. The best way to take advantage of them is to gasket match your head.... then you'll see a big increase in torque
