morning all

So i'm at a complete loss with my jeep. the misfire has mysteriously gone away. i dont get it. I started it up last night and it ran perfect. i drove it and it was fine the entire time. same this morning on the way to work. i'm not complaining i just wish it would make up it's mind. the biggest problem is it's very hard to diagnose a misfire that isn't happening.

Intermittent gremlins are the worst. The conditions have to be near identical to diagnose. Are any of the wires from the crank sensor or cam sensor frayed? And how are the inside of the connectors looking? Crank sensor controlls spark timing, cam sensor controls injector timing.

i'll check the crank and cam sensor stuff on my lunch break. i'll also clean and put dielctric grease in the connectors. i need to start going through all of the connectors anyway. i may just end up doing a fuel filter and maybe the pump as well. judging by the things i'm finding with this jeep, i'm thinking it wasn't taken care of at all. i'm gonna say the PO did only what was absolutely needed and as cheap as possible.

on another note. what do you all recomend for getting old caked on oil off the engine? i've used brake clean, carb clean, degreaser, and engine brite. nothing it cutting through it. i dont want to stick a pressure cleaner down there, but if thats my only option i guess i'll have to.

injectors haven't come in yet. as soon as they get here i'll be putting them in. i might seafoam it, but i'm still hesitant to do it.... i foresee bad things happening if i do. on the next fill up i'll be doing a pretty potent fuel system cleaner. i want to do that before the injectors just incase it loosens up some stuff and clogs the injectors. over all i'm not too concerned about it, it's just anoying to wonder how the jeep will run everytime i start it up. it also makes me quite paranoid when i'm pulling up to an intersection that has a little bit of a rough section... the vibration kind of feels like the motor is stalling out.

I don't recommend using seafoam any other way but poured into gas tank when you fill up. If you search theres a 50/50 opinion on using it .Using cleaner in tank in my opinion works best .jm2cw
