It's all in the gearing. Take the original VW Bugs for instance, they would zip all over the place with only 40-50hp. That's why properly gearing your axles is emphasized so much around here.

What ratio do I need for 33s?

You can get by with your 3.55s - 88 does on Workhorse.

Ideally, 4:10s would be what to get. You can find factory XJ axles with these already, swap axles and insta-regear.

I planned on a regear because it's my daily so I'll do that a couple weeks after my lift and do new diff covers

A regear will definitely help out with power and fuel mileage.
