Im looking for any local knowledge of the Ocala National Forest 4x4 trails. Especially interested in the Southeastern sections of the forest. I have printed out the Ocala National Forest Motor Vehicle use Map and can see lots of trails on it. I've never been there and any specific forest roads (road numbers) would be great. Thanks in advanced for any tips.
Clifford,
I want to go up there as well. I have asked various groups the very same question with not much of an answer. I pretty much have been resolved to go up and check it out myself. Let's plan a trip. Start a thread, pick a date, and go...

I'd be down for this! I'd need some advance notice, like a month or so. I've done Hard Rock a few times, always down for something new.

A few buddies and I just got back from there a few weeks ago. We were in the Silver Lake camp ground and then went out to the trails north west of there. It has been pretty dry this time of year so the trails were all sand/sugar sand. We were told that trail #2 was the best and that was the one trail we did not try. I am in a 2wd 2dr and nothing we came across gave me any trouble. My buddy has a Big Wrangler he was kind of bored, me to if I am honest. I would love to try some other areas if you are planning a trip. I know this is not a ton of info. but, I could not find much either so we just decided to go up there and find out ourselves.
i'd def be down for this next time i come down. 8)
Ive wanted to ride those trails since i was a kid, but never lived there and was always to young to dirve out there when I was down. 8(
So WE def gotta hit these up when We come back through. 8)

Let's nail down some dates. How's 8th and 9th sound? Do you guys camp? Might be a little nippy. Hotels near by etc..
Also does anyone have any photos of some of the trails there?

I have covered much of the sw and nw. A good place to start is near big scrub which is in the sw corner. If you are traveling north on 19 it will be on your left you will see a brown sign for Big Scrub. The first trail on the left when the pavement ends is a good one leads to some deep water and other washout and such. I would give you gps cords but someone stole it.

Im down to do. Mid January is good with me. My jeep is nothing fancy but I will do my best. Camping is not to great of an idea b/c its cold. But maybe.
I live in Orlando but have only been to Ocala to use the shooting range. I would be very interested to hear about where the best trails are. Been using my xj in the mud around here but it's gettin old. Need some new adventures
