I picked up some adj. front uppers to help with some caster issues I have. I think when the pass. side axle mount was welded on my D30, it's in a lil' different position than OE.(the OE mount was cut off and a LARGE piece of solid stock was fabricated, welded on and gusseted/braced). That, and the bushings on the body side seem to have the consistency of a dry rotted NERF football.

Safe trip and we'll have a "get your Jeep dirty" party when you get back.

Cool, may get to try out my new rattle can-roll on paint job, too.
Step 2(of I believe 3) is completed....the HARD part. Man, masking that **** off took way longer than I thought. Take note of the day light in the pictures.....then the night.
While I wasn't a speed demon, I tried to take my time as best I could and do it right. I even had the girlfriend come out and do the newspaper job after I went around the perimeters of the stuff I didn't want paint on.
Every thread i've read about rattle canning, it commented on the roof/hood having "tiger stripes". Well, I couldn't avoid it either. I tried my best to minimize it, but it's there. While the photos easily show the striping, the flash exaggerates it tremendously. It's certainly better than what I started with, which is on par with the goal. I used a total of 4 cans on this part.
Tomorrow or when the weather is decent again, i'll be begin rolling on the bedliner from that paint line down.
After that, I may try to go over the spray painted surfaces with a very mild buffing compound and see if that takes the edge off the roughness a bit.
This was a fun thing, but we just lost track of time and was actually havin' fun spray painting my first vehicle.

so far looking goof Tony! the tiger stripes are unavoidable unless you use a paint gun (at least in my experience) mine has tiger stripes to but they seem to minimize and even fade away after the paint has had a little while to age and a few washes. You can barely tell I have any now. I can't wait to see what its going to look like with bedliner.

99.9% complete!!! All that's left are gluing the badges back on it and gettin' it muddy!
I'm honestly very pleased with how this turned out! I bed-linered the mirrors, the drip rail and the luggage rack. That stuff is awesome and matches the sprayed version on my front bumper pretty good. Now to ditch that fubar'd rear bumper and get one to match the front...now where did I plant that money tree.... Hmmmmmmmmmm....

Well, at least yours still has branches on it!
Thanks man, i'm pleased with the results....we'll see how it holds up. I'm up for Saturday. I was planning to install the rear locker this week, but it's like 50+% chance of rain all week.
Oh well...if it gets done, it gets done.

BTW, Looks Awesome!!!!!

Cool, so far Saturday looks do-able for all 3 of us. Thanks for the garage offer, but sadly I have a garage to perform this install, but just didn't wanna spill gear oil in there and hafta deal with the smell. Must be my feminine side coming out.
I think the rain may hold off tomorrow so i'll give it a go then.
