Hello all,

I just joined CF as I am looking to buy an older Jeep. I happen to be in the Tampa/St. Pete area, though, thus it's nice to meet everyone!

I was unaware of Jeeptoberfest, but it sounds like a blast!

Check often for updates. You can also look up Jeeptoberfest on youtube for a good bit of video footage on it.

Hello!

Thank you! I watched some of the YouTube videos on the Florida Jeeptoberfest and it looks great! If I am lucky enough to find a 1976-1983 Jeep Cherokee I would love to try it out!

So you want an FSJ (Full Size Jeep) like the Gran Wagoneer or Chief S?

When I was a kid my family used an older 360 V8 Cherokee Chief which I understood to be the S, thus I have a preference for this type (specifically the wide tract). Yet I am amenable to any Cherokee Chief that would work for my intended purposes (hauler, daily driver, occasional camping, etc). Do you, by chance, know of one?

I agree, yet depending on price I would not mind a reasonable project as I have a friend that rebuilds cars and another that owns a car repair shop. Thankfully both have offered to help teach me.

I love the 1976 Cherokee Chief S and it is a great truck!

I showed my wife some of the YouTube vids for the Jeeptoberfest and she liked it! We are looking forward to attending if we can!

Hmm, my Jeep (if I can find one), lots of mud to drive in, and me kilt. Sounds like a great day to me!

The Chief is very hard to find down here in good condition. Finding the Chief in great condition is what finding an 86 XJ Wagoneer in great condition is to us. Not saying it isn't possible, just very pricey down here.

I fully agree as it has indeed been a challenging search. I may not have much of a choice but to look more towards an arid part of the country. Yet tacking on shipping, plus not being able to see a truck in person, are unfortunate (and hard to do on a teachers salary!).

Thanks again as it was most kind!
