It didn't look that bad until they put their hands all over the wheels at the tire shop. I haven't had time to clean them off since I got the new tires. It's too damn cold to be operating a garden hose right now.

I'm back from the mountains. It was an interesting trip, and not just the weather.
My alternator went out just short of the first FS road. I continued on and while I thought that I had enough battery life to get back, that was without needing wipers and headlights. So, about lunch time one of the guys I went with took me down to Morganton to see if there was a good mechanic I could use. The idea was to recon and then drive Bertha down to him.
It was a no-go. I did find someone who recommended "Hippy" as a mobile option. I talked to him on the phone and he was working on a vehicle at the time, but said he could get to a stop time and meet me in 45 minutes, following me back up the mountain....26 miles from Morganton.
For the cost of the alternator and $100, I was good to go. He did that in the rain with nary a complaint. I would highly recommend this guy if you get stuck off somewhere around there or Blueridge. He only charges what the part cost, plus his labor.
The cost to pull me off the mountain by a tow company was almost $300, then I would have to pay someone to handle the alternator once I was back to a town.

I came in on FS 28-1, and ended up on FS 58. Was there Wednesday through last night when we came off. A couple of the guys had all of their stuff get wet, so we had to pull camp for their safety.

Instead of searching through a bunch of part out threads, I figured I'd ask this here.
Anybody have an extra full set of 97-01 fender flares? Also the OEM spare tire mounting things? Just curious.

Nooooooo. I would have grabbed them from the listing had I thought that I wanted them before last night...it doesn't matter what color they are, I'll be painting them.
