Travis when were you down to the GAP last? Did Stykers o/o XJ on 30's make Mark's Wall? post a link to the video or pics please, that would be some awesome driving. Originally Posted by huntingman2706217

Nothing crazy... Good learning place... They are only open like 6 weekends a year or some crap... Ones coming up actually but its some kinda rock race thing... I dont see that being much fun since they only have one rock wall and we made it in Stykers open/open on 30's xj... Lol... Although some buggies were breaking and couldnt make it so I dunno... Lol...
My .02 on the GAP, it is an awesome place with much more to do than just a couple of things, it has gotten some pretty dang hard core stuff built in the last few years. There is still stuff for a midly built rig to do, but there is a fair amount that hard core rigs with good drivers have lots of problems doing. They only allow camping on big event weekends, and that is an awesome thing to do. Take RockFest 2012 for example they had 2 differant bands playing, one on Friday night and one on Saturday night. Plenty of camping area so your group can get your own area and not feel cramped. I rode it back in March and then was back down for Rockfestt his summer, it was amazing at how much more rock has been brought in.
DTown is not a good comparison to The GAP, DTown has more Trails, actually miles and miles of them, but very few difficult rock climbs, The GAP on the other hand has hardly no trails but is comprised of a bunch of man made rock climbs that is more than enough to keep a well built rig busy. I would say that The GAP would have better been compared to River Rock when Steve still had it open, a lot gets done and changed with a track hoe to keep it new. Sorry for the long rant but the GAP is an awesome place with lots to offer John keeps pumping rocks and money in this place. By the way it's in Auburn Al.

There is a video somewhere... he may have it... We made it and its open/open... The other two guys we had with us made it to... In 97+ xj's both open/open... One on 31's and the other on 33's... Only things really aftermarket were the lifts and AT's... Originally Posted by mdo817

I wasnt really impressed at the place... Id take dtown over the gap I think... The rock gardens were nice but nobody did them... And we obviously couldnt... And there wasnt really a trail to them... Just a big rock area... Except for one I think... Im just not a fan of the man made stuff I guess... The rest were just hills pushed together with dozers...
Dtown had only that one rocky trail thats pretty good... You really shouldnt even attempt it unless your locked front and rear... I got lsd in the rear and open front and eventually made it but there is no turning back once u start so I had no choice... Was constantly gunning it at every rock...
The hills at dtown were nice... Some I had no chance... Some we tried to flip on,and their just dirt... The trails sucked of boring flatness... Maybe one or two ok ones but still just dirt... Crazy how much dust got all over my dash and stuff... Next time ill bring the quad since theres even more trails for them to keep ya busy since theres not enough for the trucks...
Great camping at dtown tent or tents with power or rv campin or cabins! Hotbl showers and all...
The gap i only saw tent campin which is what i prefer but it was really nice and more of the true camping feel then dtown...
Ill try and find videos of us at dtown and robs video at the gap...
