Default Springfield/Central area report in!

Wow. I can't believe I'm havin this hard of a time findin anyone from central Illinois.

Just irks me that the only park I have close to me, (I live in Springfield) is the park by Branson! There are about 6 OHV parks, but they all are anti truck/Jeep, saying that they only have specific days/places they can go. **** that. I hate picky *** businesses. There's one park, 400 acres, and no truck trails. W...T...F?

If there's ANYONE in the central Illinois region, for the love of GOD take me wheeling! And if there's anyone who's got property, I promise you, I am respectful of others land, and how they wish to have it treated.

Just blows my mind that back ***-wards Illinois doesn't have any central area parks. Always did hate this democrat state, but I could never figure why. Just found it out. **** this state.

Whew, now that my rant is over, I can put my lift on the Jeep. And hopefully get it wheelin by summer.

I'm in Mattoon, about 45 minutes south of Champaign on I57. Not much for wheeling in my area. I also haven't gotten a lift yet due to lack of places to try out my stock suspension to see what I really need for a lift. Bigger isn't always better.

I'm form Springfield... but currently in Guam on Navy business. Just bought my first XJ, and right now she is stock with a cherry bomb. Thats all I got. Looking to lift her soon, and take her out there. But i honestly don't know that much about cars. Did I come to the right place?

Kmart... have you looked at Two Rivers Jeep Club??

They run two of the absolute best events around.. offer a good amount of stuff to their members and control a number of private trails for their members.

Now.. onto your semi-misdirected rant...

Understand outside of Chicago.. its the landowners and local authorities that have put us in this situation. There was a park in Pittsfield(owned by the same people that now own the one over the border). The Wombles were GREAT park owners. You could not have asked for a better set of folks to work with. But the land they were on was leased and the owners of the land wanted to do something else with it.

Running a park is a VERY expensive, time consuming venture.. developing one is even more expensive. Its one of the reasons, we have seen the Badlands change hands in the last few years and one of the reasons the owner of The Cliff's has offered that park for sale.

And if you think you are frustrated... Remember you pay NO OHV fees in Illinois. Legal ATV owners pay them as part of their sticker. Yet outside of money to the ATV park in the Peoria area, there has never been a successful grant written out of the ATV fund. Gov. Chicagovich tried several times to sweep the $30+ million out of that fund to be taken for DNR operations.
