pulling I6 4.0 out of a 02 grand cherokee laredo
hello, new to the forum had a gc laredo for a little over a year, bought used off a stealership for 5k, had 105k miles when I bought it, today it has 119,000 apx. miles, and dead already has oil, but I think I let the oil change go a little too long, 6,000 miles over due yes I'm an idiot before you all start saying it, Now I'm paying the price can't find one anywhere at a junk yard, everyone I call says the 4.0's are like gold around here, evidently they're notorious for going out, so no one around here has one, found one with 285k miles for 1,400, so me and my dad decided to pull it ourselves, hoping I just spun a bearing and threw a rod, its locked up tighter than sh*+ tried manually moving with channel locks on the fan clutch, nothing. tried turning it over, doesn't even make half a revolution it tries then nothing. so cutting a long story short, any tips on making it easier to pull the motor, we have a hoist, engine stand, any tool in existence my dad owns, from wrenches to sockets, plies screw drivers ect. so I was hoping a fellow jeep expert could help me out on this one, what it's gonna take to get my cherokee back on the open road, miss driving it sunroof open windows down, just cruising...

1400 for a used 4.0?!?!?!?! Where the hell do you live?????
I just picked up a 4.0 with 100k miles with tranny for $200.00
And btw 4.0's live for ever IF you take care of them.... My stock engine in my 89 had 411,000 miles on it.

I am running into the same problem. apparently when you add "grand" to Cherokee the 4.0 price goes way up!
I got a quote from one JY for 1800 and another for 1600
Yet i have seen XJ motors for 150 bucks
