Be prepared to get all kinds of conflicting answers. My understanding is that it is legal, but you must retain at least the drivers side rear view mirror, obviously this means you would have to mount one.

here in canada, it is legal, however, you must have at least one rear view mirror. so the one on the windshield is all you need. by law.
but personally, i don't like cherokee's with the doors removed. that's what i bought my tj for.
but you should check the HTA for that state to be sure.
edit: here, just found this. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f176/...r-laws-565361/

I never had mirrors when I ran my wrangler without doors, and I never got in trouble with it. I have plans for making half doors for my jeep, and making them interchangeable or maybe ill just take them all the way off. I too have had questions about the legality of taking the doors off of a cherokee.

I've asked state troopers and city cops.
In MI the ONLY requirement is a windshield or goggles and 2 review mirrors. (1 in, 1 out)

It is legal to run doorless so long as you have a restraint device such as a seat belt. (So a Jeep without a seat belt, like an old ******, cannot run doorless in MI)

Ok, so I just talked to an old friend from school, and he is a cop. I asked him this question and he said if the doors were meant to come off you have to have your rearview on the windshield and the drivers side door mirror. I then asked him about Cherokees and he said technically it is ILLEGAL, but.. I told him there is a custom mod that makes it so you can remove them like a wrangler or CJ and he said you would probably be fine with the mod in place, but like all cops it depends a lot on their mood I think.

I know when I'm done building "Tiny" it will have the doorless mod. And I have no plans of half doors or tube doors. Doors or no doors that simple for me..
