hey XJx3,
yea, fortville isn't that far.
any chance you'd be open to helping me out with my 97?
I've done several other repairs on my own (water pump, power steering pump, thermostat, starter, NSS, etc) but I'm a little hesitant to jump into replacing the ball joints. hope all is well near fortville

well first off im in need of a elec fan bad cant drive it long with out it. and I need a set of rubber for it to the tires on it now suck. I have 235/75? /15s on it now. and while I was driving it today the idle shot up and I can seem to understand why I check all my vac lines and the tb looked pretty clean, I check everything I can think of. so at this point im lost with it. also I have an 1989 jeep Cherokee xj 2 dr has the 4.0 auto 4wd as far as anything else not sure like I said very first one so im learning as I go here.

I don't know too much about Renix era 4.0s. You might be better off asking in the "ask a question" thread. Lots of help to be had there.

As for the electric fan, if your cooling system is up to par you should be fine without one except certain occasions (drive thrus, etc.) So you may need to do some cooling system maintenance as well as add an aux fan. Which, I know you could convert the closed renix cooling system to an open system like on 91+ XJs.

Yea Renix 4.0s can be that way.

Have you looked at any junkyards yet? For the elec fan.
