Incase anyone would be interested, we are having a Color Tour this saturday (10-3) around the Harrison area. It is the Moose Off Road Club trail ride. This is good run to take stock to slightly modified rigs on.. We meet at the Moose around 9ish and leave for the trails around 10:00. We are cooking out on the trail.. This ride is lots of fun and we always like meeting new people... If you have any questions please let me know. Hope to see some of you on the trails... Thanks Kari

I am in Grand Haven/Spring Lake (grand rapids region) I wheel up at Silver Lake a lot. plan on doing more trail runs next year. Jeep is also a Daily Driver, so i play "whats that noise" too
Sup guys, i think silver lake is pretty close to where i live in rockford. I have a pretty old stock 91 cherokee. I want to take it off roading sooo bad but its got some issues with an oil leak still
and its got over 200k miles on it i dont even know if i shud take it on a trail or not.

hmm my mechanic says my front right U joint? or cv joint? is gonna break. When i put the car into 4x4 it makes a weird sound and it doesn't feel right at all. and my mechanic says fixing the joint thing will take care of that problem. that sound right?

yes, it could be as simple as the wheel joint (u joint) you should not have CV joints. It's pretty easy to do, it is just time consuming. I think that is why my 4wd binds in a certain spot, so i need to do mine sometime soon too, i have not been able to do anything fun lately because of it

But really, u-joints are easy. Just buy two when you get them, that way if you screw up you have another one already. If you do it right the first time, then you have an extra for when you need it.
Watch part 1, and 2.

yeah i am a ways away from you too, but they are easy to do, just search all over the internet (jeepforum.com has a great write up that i followed my first time) for a write up on how to change it.
