good points. part of the reason I'm going 31's is to avoid cutting. also, I'm not expecting to do any serious wheeling just want to have a good reliable slightly lifted hunting truck that I can get to the camp with and have better clearance.

youll be fine with 3.5'' of lift and 31s fender wise. those canyon wheels may be a problem tho. theyve got too much back spacing and will rub the control arms at full lock. its managable if you dont make too many tight turns tho

what options do I have using factory(spacers?) or aftermarket cont arms to avoid this?

i had some 1.5'' wheel spacers on my ravines for a few months.

you could swap in some WJ control arms, if your lift doesnt com with LCA's that is, they've got a bend in them so theyll clear the tires. theres a few WJs at pick n pull to choose from

The V8 ZJs have a thicker Tie rod, and fit our Cherokees. I'd suggest getting new rod ends before installing to your XJ.

That's wayyy to much work. I'd rather buy a cheap lift.

If I were gonna do a cheep lift I'd do an s10 bastard pack RE 3.5 coils and modded jk shocks. And probably some WJ Lca's. Then get some c1500 front brake lines and a Dakota rear line and dakota shackles probably no more than 300$ for a decent lift
