moving out this summer
Hey all figured I'd go ahead and introduce myself, My names Trent and I'll be moving back to the OKC area this summer, assuming my '89 can make the trip. I currently reside in Flagstaff Arizona so theres no shortage of trails and parks up here, but i was wondering, what are the off road areas like in OK? My dad used to have the H+F rights to the parcel behind him but the old man who owned it croaked and i cant go there anymore. Also - we have a number of pick-n-pull u-pull-it pick-a-part stroes in the phoenix area aswell as AMC 4x4 salvage - what are the options for parts in oklahoma? i assume there is at least one self service yard (which i prefer) and lastly, Convertable? or not? I have an ancient metal cutter I think I'm going to cut the rear quarter out of my jeep with when i get there, then decide if i want to keep the doors, but first things first, i'll need a lift.
yadda yadda yadda i could go on for awhile me and my buddies out here are pretty much jeep lifers although one is attempting to switch over to a tundra after blowing the transfer case on his '93 zj and the motor on his v8 wj. (hydrolocked)
I'll post up pics some time soon

First off, welcome to the board and back to OKC (when you get here). Secondly.. There is atleast 1 pull-a-part in town as well as a Jeep Salvage yard. I am not sure how much of the Jeep yard is XJs though as I have never been there. The legal trails are not around OKC... You pretty much have to go to the North East or South East part of the state to find any. Disney (NE), Gruber (E) and Clayton (SE), there is also Little Sahara (NW)..

Well, I'm going to be getting my Jeep ready for the move to Oklahoma this summer. This is what i have so far as for things i would like to do and need to do to make it road worthy again, she's been sitting for the better part of a year, driven around the parking lot two or three times a month.
First off I have a 1989 Jeep Cherokee Laredo 4 door 4.0l 4x4
This is what i need to do, its a long list
1 Oil Change and flush with a quart diesel.
2 Vacuum Lines
3 Switch Tires From Parts Jeep - 2 good Michelin MTX to replace my bald ones.
4 Get Brakes Inspected
5 Replace and Flush Power Steering Fluid and the Hose that Leaks
6 Transmission Filter and Flush
7 Radiator Flush and Fill - probably looking for some kind of snake oil to cool better.
8 New Cap and Rotor - I think it was replaced by the previous owner but i have no record of it.
9 New Spark Plugs
10 Air Filter
11 Tag Light
12 update registration and tags, insurance
13 New or rebuilt alternator -- What amperage would be good for an XJ with a light bar and a winch later on down the road?
14 Windsheild Wipers
15 Trailor Lighting Kit
and the optional
Front left turn signal cover, instead of clear orange tape
Valve Cover Gasket
my buddy craigs wheels - he wants to trade
CB-Radio setup with external PA
Light bar
Shocks
Winsheild
Cold Air Intake
Luggage Bars - Stock mine broke off when my buddy chained a table to them...
Rooftop Container for clothes and such on the trip.
Open cooling system conversion
fix the passenger window - stuck i nthe up position no motor sounds.
Well thats it, my checklist for the next 6 months, and hopefully a lift might fit in there some time. Let me know if there is anything anyone can think of to check before the trip these are just the things i can think of to check off the top of my head.
