Exclamation Stolen built 2000 XJ in KC, MO

Hi all,

Just posting here to get the word out on my stolen Jeep for those of you in the area. If you could keep an eye out for it, or any parts being sold off of it that would be amazing. Do the right thing and call the police if you think you have any info on it.

Description
- Silver 2000 XJ, chopped fenders and quarters, around 175k
- ~5" lift (RE springs and Big Off Road leafs with shackle)
- TNT Long Arms, sliders, unibody stiffeners, trackbar and bracket
- D30 trussed with Super30 + ARB air locker + JKS LCA skids +Riddler diff cover + JKS quicker disconnects
- C8.25 + ARB air locker with TNT UBEs and shaved, Teraflex disc brakes, Riddler diff covers painted black (looks much like an 8.8 at first glance, nothing below axle tube)
- AJ's Offroad Armor bumpers (Tanker tire carrier with hi lift and Slikrok with M8000 cut into grill)
- 305/70R16 KM2s, Pro Comp 1069 8 hole alloys painted black
- Bilstein 5160 shocks
- Skid Row gas tank skid
- Currie steering
- sunroof
- MontanaFab AW4 override controller installed by e-brake lever
- ARB switches installed under HVAC controls, center
- VIN: 1J4FF48S4YL197927

There are a ton of other goodies on there, but this would be the stuff you guys would notice quickly, and the more likely to be chopped off and on craigslist.

The story is that this jeep was built to replace my similarly built 1992 XJ which was totalled Dec. 2009 when some lady lost control of her vehicle and t-boned me at 65mph on the highway resulting in a few rolls. I salvaged what I could and rebuilt. I've had this Jeep for less than 2 years, put a ton of money and work into it obviously. I was going to take it to Moab and wheel it for the first time (I wanted it 100%, nothing unfinished) last weekend. No one could make it so I went to Kansas City to visit friends I had not seen in years. It was 3 of their bdays that week and I wanted to surprise them. Within 2 hours of parking my Jeep at 38th and Walnut in midtown KC, MO it was gone. This was on Friday, Oct 28 between 5:30 and 8p. I flew back home on Sunday to my home in Denver, CO.

If anyone sees anything, please let me know via PM and call the cops!

Thanks to all for looking out for a fellow jeeper with some seriously bad luck.

The only photos I have of it how it was when it was stolen are here:

It was recovered December 5 (2 years to the day of the accident on the previous Jeep) in Independence, MO. If you follow the link in the OP I added pictures of the before and after. It is currently at a friends auto body shop in Belton, MO. He's going to replace the steering column, see if it's mechanically sound and check if the "frame" is straight. Tires/wheels, front bumper/winch, seats, yellow top, ARB compressor, steering box bracket, swaybar/disconnects, hi-lift and shocks were all taken (along with everything inside including some nice luggage, my expensive down sleeping bag, softshell/down sweater, ski poles, my glasses and clothes for the trip to KC). The front fenders are a little beat up. Suspension/sliders are still there along with the gas tank skid and rear bumper. If it's ok mechanically I think I'll rebuild what I have. I don't want to have to pull everything off this one to put on another. The unibody stiffeners are also on this one.

If anyone sees a Cherokee with a SlikRok front bumper in KC give it a second look. The one that came off my XJ had extra support for a 4 bolt steering box on the driver side bumper mount. My guess is it should be one of the ONLY ones made like that. AJ had to source a 4 bolt steering box to get the pattern, so he had not made any like that before spring 2010. It may be a standard option now, although I doubt too many people ask for it.

Hopefully they just took it somewhere to strip the parts and ditched it. There was only a half tank of gas, so I hope they couldn't romp it around town/in fields/around their meth factory too much. If it's alright it will be rebuilt the same way, just with 35s this time. I always knew building Jeeps is an expensive hobby, it just seems with my luck it has gotten to be about 3x more expensive. Not to mention the time I've spent building the same damn XJ over and over. Oh well, it's a fun hobby and not having it the last few months has left me missing it. It's a huge security blanket knowing that no matter the weather I can get where I need to go (a big deal to me in the mountains in CO in winter). Can't wait to wheel it this summer/fall (hopefully....)

Interesting read sorry. Im a locksmith in kc independence is the meth capital of the usa. Everyone who builds these jeeps need to keep in mind how easy they are to steal. especially if your truck does not have a transponder key. If your gonna put thousands of dollars in your rig and you dont have a transponder key im just saying from experience you should wire a hidden cutoff switch in it somewhere. The early 90s with that plastic switch housing is even more ridiculous how strong can plastic be.
If your key does not have a grey or tan plastic head it has no chip.
