I work in the motor pool an run an m88 which is a track vehicle recover wrecker. A switch went bad on my main winch so I pulled the nose out to replace it. There isn't any cable on it currently since I need to re time the feed block

She is rated at 140,000lbs straight line pull. I also have a ****** block to double that. That's why there is a big *** spade on the front to shove in the ground and brace it.

Default Shock question

Does anyone know if stock length dodge ram 4x4 shocks would work with say a homebuilt 3 in lift? Got a set for free and was wondering. Going do a bastered pack in the rear and 3 in spacers on the front tell I can get new coil springs.

How do they compare in size to the stock shocks? Take measurements of them compressed and fully extended. I know stock jk shocks are good for 3in, not sure if the Rams are usable.

Hi, new Jeep owner here in KC! I just bought my first, a 91. it is stock, and for now will need to stay that way because of finances, but in the future I may play with mods.

I have a couple of questions, where are some good places locally to go wheeling for a stock xj? a Friend of mine has a Grand Cherokee and is interested in starting going off road as well.

Also, while checking to see what the cause of my death wobble is, we noticed that the upper and lower passenger side control arms are warped. it looks like someone tried to do a little too much in it and may have landed on a large rock or so, not sure as I have only had it about a week. With all the mods and lifts that go on with Jeeps, I was wondering if anyone had a set of stock ones they could let go cheap?

Very interested in meeting some local people and having some off road fun once I get mine fixed up.

I wouldn't bother replacing anything with stock parts if you ever plan to lift/mod it.. just upgrade now lol what side of kc are you on? Oh and welcome to the forum

Thanks for the welcome! I live in the 435 and Gregory Blvd area. I just don't have the finances to do any modding right now. That's why I was wondering if anyone had some spare parts left over from a mod that could get me by. The people who owned the Jeep before me neglected and beat it up pretty good. Since my truck transmission went out it is my daily driver. I am just wanting to get it straightened out for now and be able to have fun with it ( get a little mud on it!), get a feel for off road a bit. In the spring when taxes come in, i will likely do a modest lift and tinker with it more as far as mods.

This thing needs serious attention. The front drive shaft is off from the previous owner. They said it had a bad vibration. Once I get it back on I can see what i am dealing with.I went down to pick and pull, but there were no XJs, but alot of Grands. one step at a time....
