So the tcase I put in is a 242. Id rather have a 231. Anybody know of someone with a 231 they would be interested in swapping for? From a few google searches people are paying good money for the 242, its just not what I want.

Quote: I had to use a breaker bar with a 4ft piece of pipe over it and it was still difficult.

Consider yourself lucky. The metal sleeves in the bushings of both leaf springs seized to the bolt. I had cut my bolts out with a torch and replace them. Same thing happened on one of my lower control arms. My Jeep was a ***** when it came to putting the lift on.

New guy
Hey guys I just got a xj. Had a yj years ago but it was a pile and had to sell it to get a reliable ride for collage. Well I decided it was time to get another jeep. So I picked up another pile 95 xj 4 door auto. It looks like shot but runs good and I am going to wheel it so who cares. This is a great sit and is the main reason I got a xj instead of another wrangler.

I live in pleasant hill, jeep is stock but I have wheels and some 30s mud kings for it and the metal for front and rear bumpers and sliders. Have a line on some 33s though. Do a 2 in lift and a lot of trimming!

Welcome to XJ family. Bring your stock out and the trail crew will show you trails that can push it to the breaking point.

Welcome aboard. My fist jeep was a yj and it was a pile of $%$# to! After I replaced everything that went wrong I sold it before something else broke and got an xj. I need to get some metal to make a rear bumper next.

Go to a place called metal by the foot. It's awesome there is one in lee summit off 291 south by 50 hwy. it's nice to be able to get like 5 and 6 foot pieces.

I got lucky. I was able to get ahold of a 231 case for cheap, and sell my 242 at the same time for way more than its worth. basically I got the case I wanted and an extra $100 in my pocket! I got rained out tonight though, wasnt able to get the 231 in.

Thanks for the tip, I found that place online but havnt called yet. One place downtown quoted me only $30 for a 3ft wide by 5 foot long piece of 3/16 steel. Where royal metal wanted over $80 for the same piece. Do you have a welder? cant wait to see what you make up.
