Wish I would have seen this thread a while ago. Just moved back to Davenport, I had lived in DSM for 4 years prior to heading back east. Still make the trip out to DSM somewhat regularly since a few of my friends still live there.
By the way, great looking XJs you have there, love the colors of both. That light blue would be my color of preference if I could buy another.

Thanks man.. I like the blue too.. Not a ton of em running around either since its only avalible in 98-99.. As for wheelin spots, i know of the miobi (make it or break it) club and the jocci (jeep offroad club of centeal iowa).. I havent gotten into the scene much since my green jeep is still under the knife.. Someday ill be more up to date once its back up and running..

Im in Oskaloosa, I don't have a xj but have a 04 grand. im not looking for a crazy rig. its my daily driver and has to get me back and forth to work and a and b. I ordered a 2in lift for it and I hope it is on by next weekend then I should be ready for a little trailing. im gonna do little at a time as money and time allows. I will keep up in this post maybe we can get together.
Hey just wanted to stop in and say hi to the Iowa guys,
I just picked up a 93 as a winter/beater and forgot how addicting Jeeps are.. Had a TJ a while back. It's got 200k miles on it so I'm hoping it gets me through the winter, then I'll be shopping for an upgrade and begin the building process.
Anyone around the DM area still active on here? I'm in Altoona, about 10 minutes away from DM.

Welcome.. Im still kickin here in des moines.. Im by the fairgrounds.. But i havent seen much action from the dm crowd for a while.. Im still workin on my project that i have pix of through out this thread.. Someday ill be able to drive it..
Yea that thing looks like a beast, I'll bet it eats you up a little on the inside everyday that you don't get to just go out and drive it! lol
I hate the way they sit stock so I bought a 2" BB lift from Fat Bob's and some Cragar soft 8's to make it look just a little bit better. But mine will probably never be truly trail capable. Plan is to buy a nicer one next year and get a "real" lift and tires.
You wheel anywhere local? (Or plan to once you're up and running)

Yeah, i hear ya.. Thats why i had to buy the blue one.. I just like rollin in a xj.. That green one should be trail ready when it gets done.. If it ever gets done.. I did take the rear end and all the suspension out couple weekends ago.. Now gotta get brakes figured out for the 9 inch thats going under it.. I want to do disc brakes.. Then mock it up and burn the leaf and shock mounts on and get er under it.. The blue one probably wont see any major offroading while i own it..
I havent gone wheeling legally anywhere in iowa except on the quad.. Ive done some level b roads and some farm field muddin a handful of times years ago..

i got rid of mine but i missed it so much i went and got it back. so if you see a green xj with tinted taillights around thats me. im gana lift it and i made my first purchase yesterday. American racing 15x8 3.75" backspacing. 130 bucks for all four so i figured it was a steal. i got some bar keepers friend and they cleaned up real good but in this picture i havent cleaned em yet.
Nice, I used to have a big wrangler.. I ended up getting rid of it and giving up on my offroading dreams since there really is nowhere to go around here legally. I hit a couple trails down at the bottoms but probably would have been looking at hefty fines if I got caught haha.
And nice deal on those wheels. Definitely would have taken that! Could resell and easily get your money back even if they weren't really what you were looking for.
I have a set of brand new Cragar 8's sitting in the garage... Waiting for my alignment at Earl's. It's killing me so see a stack of boxes with brand new parts not being put to use!
