Im from southern IL. Edwardsville, to be exact, about 20 mins from Alton. I am heavy into Scouts, but I currently own 2 XJs. Working to make my '00 a DD/Weekend Warrior. Need to lift it, and put sliders on it, get a HP30 front, and just merely drive it. It sits on 30s right now, and I am probably gonna stop at 32s.

I've been on Cherokee Forum for a while, doing a ton of reading. Needing to get some better stock leafs till I can get funding together to get a 4.5" RE lift. I'm big into family adventures, as well as fun wheeling.

Hi Jeff, I take it from your forum name that you a fan of Scouts. My father used to have one (1964 red 4 cyl Pickup top). It was the vehicle I first soloed in on the street, back in the mid 70's.

Yes I do have a Scout addiction. But I also enjoy the Cherokee platform. Its also pretty simple, has a pretty good following, and is pretty easy to work on/build. I wheeled my first '94 on 30s with no lift, and showed some Scout II's that were lifted where one of these could run. They have good power for their weight and well other than being a tad small for a 4 person family, gives us a platform to take day trips with, in some pretty good remote locations when needed. While I get picked on about my Scouts, I can assure you, I have one with 35's at the house that is built pretty good, but needs some TLC to be what we-yes the wife is involved too, we have and want a true beater/wheeler to be.
That pretty much sums it up, oh and I drive an International 4300 at work(RR Hyrail Spray truck)
I just need to get the $$ to get the RE 4.5 lift kit for this '00, so I can get back out there and wheel again. Wife and I kind of lost the bug for a bit when we had kids, but now they are a bit older, and we can now involve them as we go out and see some countryside. I am working till real early fall, then I want to hit lifting this XJ before the real cold weather hits, so we can enjoy it some more.

This seems to the il forum that's not for Chicago folks so I'll try again here. September 13th 14th and 16th south fork dirt riders in taliorville is going to be open to trucks and jeeps. The owner is converting the park to a truck park and wants to be jeep friendly as well as monster mud truck friendly. I have talked with him and he wants jeepers to come trail ride and give feedback on the trails. I will be there on the 14th and I hope to see some of you guys.
