I am looking at mid to end of Jan to put on a 4.5" long arm with new leaf pack. I hope to also put on an SYE and CV drive shaft. I don't know a lot about mechanics, but from what I have read this seems as though it will get me started. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the info, I did not realize I would need to weld. I have a buddy with a MIG that I could use, but mine welding skills are not good enough to do myself. Maybe, I will start short arm and then go long arm upgrade later.

Actually, (after some reseach) Rusty's has a complete bolt-on long arm kit. It's pricey and probably not the easiest install, but it looks pretty sick. That's another option.

Spoke with RC about their 4.5 long arm. They say welding would help, but it is all bolt-on. Do you know anything about it? I have read all the many threads on which suspension is best. It seams RE is typically the preferred, but most info on RC is positive. RE is about a grand more for similar kit. I understand the whole you get what you pay for, but if I can't pay for it, I can't get it. Any experience with RC?

Either way, with a long arm kit you're still gonna have to cut off your factory LCA brackets. If you just want 4.5" you could just do a short arm kit for now and upgrade to a long arm down the road if you feel you've got to have it.
I'm running 5" with short arms and no SYE and there's a couple other guys on here doing the same and we all have pretty good flex and ride.

I dont have any experience with RC, but it looks like a good kit.

Right on. Thanks for the info. Seems as though I can lift it up for a little cheaper than I thought. One more thing, this will be my DD also. Not for long trips, we have the lady's car for that. Any concerns for on-road performance with just the lift and no other mods?

You might need more backspacing if you have stock wheels (so you're not rubbing the control arms when turning), but as long as you're not running crazy big tires it should be fine.
Let me know when you get it. It sounds like a good project.
