ok If you get on the i 17 and head north to carefree highway and head west. Past new river road and take a right on Castle hot springs road and fallow that all the way down to a stop sign. At that point you can either go right to the lake or left to castle hot springs and there is alot of driving out there. but if you want to go to Crown king fallow castle hot springs to cow creek road and than look for a rock with Crown king painted on it and take a right there and that road will lead you all the way to crown king. i wouldn't recommend doing that trail unless you have at least a 4inch lift and i wouldn't do it by myself but that goes for all trails.
Oh you might want to go to barns and noble and pick up a trail book.

the best way to learn the area and or how to wheel is to join a club, there are several out here, az4wheelers.com, azjeepclub.com and azfj.org just to name a few

There is a great book at barns and noble that about Arizona Only jeep and back country trails. It was like 20 bucks i think and has everything including maps, and GPS coordinates and trail descriptions and pictures. Great little book! worth the $20. I will find mine and grab the title for you....
