It looks like where the 2 case halves come together. I'm gonna have to pull it tomorrow and figure it out. I've never pulled a t-case before, but there's a first time for everything right?!?

Ya pulling the case will be the easy part, its the splitting it that I would be worried about! Do your homework on it & it shouldn't be too bad...

The thing about pulling the Tcase, is let the transmission down with a jack. Its the only way to get to the top bolts. WHILE YOU HAVE IT OFF... Replace the rear output shaft seal in the trans. CHEAP insurance while you have the access.

Now my jeep has all fresh fluids except for front diff.... not an expert but the color of the transmission / transfer case / rear diff fluids was nasty looking.

The transmission was very thick and black with some kind of silver shiny colors in it (and a bunch of metal shavings on the magnet) but it looks like the shifting 1 -2 or 3-2 is much much smoother (maybe a psychological factor lol). I used 80W90 GL5 I hope I am OK that is what Chilton recommended. I read that GL5 is bad because of sulfur dissolving bronze shifter rings but I read also that it is OK for BA10 5 because they have Aluminum shifter rings....
I used ATF4 for the TC and what came out was definitely not red lol
I made my first time ever RTV gasket.... hope I am OK and didn;t mess up lol I guess I'll see tonight if the oil is on the ground or not.

River crazy, I hope you'll be able to fix that leak....

manual transmission called for gear oil 80W90 GL5..... I have checked and read a bunch of things.... now you make me doubt again..... Fresh oil was gold color; old oil was black probably from not having been changed in a while. I have read as many comments on the shavings that say it is not a good sign than comments that say that for a 200k BA10/5 it is expected.... I took side of the ones that say expected
Fresh ATF4 in the transfer case was red in color but the old one was dark brown. Manual called for ATF3 but I read a comment by Rivercrazy explaining that ATF4 was now recommended by Chrysler....

Alright guys, it's getting that close to being done. We need to plan a trip for mid to end of June. I need a good shake down run for this thing. It's been sitting since Oct. and needs to have it's leg's stretched.. A LOT! I was thinking Little Moab would be a great place to do it. Easy to get to, you can drive right to it in case this things ends up getting destroyed on it's first outing. (hey, you never know) Or Rattlesnake/Constrictor would be cool, but if something breaks getting your rig our of there can be a pain. I am off the weekend of June 26, who all would be interested in a Saturday trip to Little Moab?

I'm always interested in a run, and either of those works. I'm itching to get out myself.
