Default Newbie in a stock '01 on Elephant Hill, good idea?

Hi all,
I'm new to the forum and technical wheeling in general. I've got a completely stock 2001 'Kee Sport and I'm planning a trip to the Four Corners this June. I have reservations for White Rim and Elephant Hill already. I'm not worried about the White Rim, but what do you all think about Elephant Hill? Doable for a newbie or not a good idea?
Thanks!

I would recommend you do some upgrading before you try it. Skid plates on sensitive stuff, some recovery points front & back, and take along some traction pads, maybe a sand anchor and a come-along. Also a full compliment of tools & spare parts.

The Park Service used to use semi-stock XJs for trail patrolling, but their drivers were not newbies and the XJs usually had skids. Plus they all had radios and free assistance if needed. Recovery costs for towing out a busted vehicle out there could be well over $1000 for you.
