X2. I felt bad the other day when talking with my mom about wedding stuff. She eventually got to how much will we need. My reply was don't worry about helping out with it $$$ wise. I can't stand borrowing $ from people especially if it's an exact amount. However if someone just gives money towards it that's a different story
My cousin had a fairly big wedding a few years ago. He didnt have any money, so he asked the family to pitch in. WTF? I thought that was pretty lame. If he couldn't pay for his big wedding, he shouldn't have had one, or had a small one. Nothing wrong w/that.
My boss has 2 daughters. Both had pretty big weddings he paid for. One is divorced, the other doesnt talk to him, and now he's always complaining he's 60k in debt cuz of those 2 weddings lol..
My wedding cost us around 500 bucks, and was a great time! Being older than some of you, I didn't need all of the extra BS that a fancy wedding has, so we went that route. We had a JOP come to a little B&B in the mountains, where we had a cottage rented, and he married us there....he was the only guest...then it was off to the honeymoon!! We rented a cottage with a hot tub, and had a gourmet dinner that night and breakfast the next morning, and went home....pretty sweet!
