Why does it need to be 2wd? Very curious. But no, I don't know.

I've seen vids of cherokees with 4" lift run it with some interesting sections, mainly tall rocks..... I'm waiting until I have a locker with my 3.5", i'd just spin off every rock climb....

Having some really irritating problems with my XJ this past week.
Anyone ever had the problem when you first start it up there is a really loud screechy noise and it goes away after a few seconds?
Or when you accelerate it gets a really loud chirpy sound? I don't think it is my belt because i've tightened it and loosened it and it persists to make this sound. It isn't a bad belt either i've had a mechanic look at it. I think it may be the tensioner pulley but im not sure. It stops making the noise for about 5 minutes then comes back.

Last thing, my voltage meter totally just dropped from 14 to 9 in a matter of seconds. I turned it off then back on and it was back up to 14.

Feel like i kinda got a lemon...
Anyway any suggestions on these things lemme know. Kinda embarrassing going down the road with a squeaky lifted vehicle...lol

if not a bad belt and tension is good I would be looking at every pully there ...it could even be the alternator ...fan clutch...ac clutch...could be anything spinning up there making the noise ,so finding it will take hunting...with hood open have someone else start/rev while you listen.

A loose pully, I know u said u checked but jus take a closer look at ALL of em? The battery, um, any more info on that? Is it a specific situation that the voltage meter drops?

It's a new interstate battery. My XJ has had a history of the battery getting killed if i don't make sure the clock is not on when i turn the key off. But it was weird, it hasn't ever done this before. I was just driving along and all of a sudden i saw a check gauges and then my voltage meter was on the 9 when it is normally always on 14 while running.

Alternator and power steering pump are brand new.

yep just take the belt off and start turning every pully by hand to find the bad one

Ive run it open/open without snow, not a very hard trail. Prolly need to be locked front/rear for some of the climbs in the snow
