"death wobble"
Loads of threads here regarding the issue, and some of them are mine!! LOL!! I'm happy to say that it is long gone now!! That is the one thing I can't stand about the suspension set up under XJs, ZJs, and TJs, is the fact that they can actually destroy themselves very quickly...ask me how I know!!

OK, I'll play!! I had major DW awhile back. When I bought the Jeep, it was fine, meaning no DW. I went over the entire Jeep with a fine toothed comb right after I bought it, since it was lifted, and I didn't do the work. I wanted to make sure that all was well with it and all. I knew the guy that I bought it from, and he is not a hack, but I just wanted to be sure, I'm kinda fussy like that!! I found NOTHING loose at all, everything was in great working order, and the Jeep drove great like it should've. About 6 months after I bought it, I was driving it to work, and hit a manhole cover, those seem to be perfect to induce the beloved DW, and BOOM, I got it!! At that point I went over the whole front end again, and still found nothing. I took it to 3 different places and they found the same thing I did...NOTHING!! I was at a loss...so I just continued to drive it!! Then I found a flyer for another shop here in town, and thought I'd try again. They found the PS ball joints were bad, and quoted me like $800.00 to fix it...NOT!! I had never done it, and was a little intimidated due to the price. I thought if something cost that much, it had to be a major PITA to do, now I know I was wrong!! Anyway, I blew it off for a little while. I just watched how I drived, and tried to aviod all of the bumps and what not that I thought would induce the DW. I went wheeling a few times and stuff, and as I'm sure you can imagine, had several cases of the DW while I drove it. Then I hooked up with a member here, FrankZ, and he found the same thing the shop did, as well as shot TREs, which were fine when the shop checked it out earlier. After talking with Frank, he basically told me to man up and get it done, and even offered his services, which I really thought was cool!! Thanks for that Frank!! I opted to get it done myself after A LOT of research. I replaced every moving part in the front end of my XJ, and now it is gone....YEAH!!! As I pulled the old stuff off of the Jeep, I was amazed how bad everything actually was!! I went from a tight front end to complete garbage in about 6 months!! After it all said and done, I had replaced the steering box, which was loose as heck, the power steering pump, which leaked like a mother, but didn't contribute to the DW, I built all of the steering links, and used 3/4" rod ends, they were all toast, upper and lower BJs on both sides, they were loose as crap, both unit bearings, they weren't loose, but I thought why not!! So, you see, it can really beat the pee out of the front end with the violent shaking rather quickly. I know this is long, but hey, you asked for it!!
Damn, pretty much a new front end. That's cool, thanks for posting, good info for anybody that may have questions regarding DW. Frank's a good guy, has helped me with some issues I've had in the past.
