Howdy Rocket and Bugout! I am doing great. Loving my Jeep more every day. Drives like a dream. Now that I got the oil leaks fixed I will be taking more long trips and will have more pictures of beautiful Arizona to share. Take care guys.

Finally part of the lifted XJ family... it's a mild 2.5"...but a pretty dramatic transformation with the sad shape the original suspension was in before I replaced it all. She literally sits about 4 inches higher in the rear and about 2" higher in the front for a nice even look stance. :)
Put new longer travel shocks on to handle the extra height plus the OEM's were totally shot. And new Crown heavy duty full leaf springs in back. With shackle relocation brackets to assist in leveling it out.

Nice man, congrats! Looks good.

Thanks stealthy....now to get some slightly bigger shoes on her. The 235s don't look horribly small, but to really make her sit right would love to throw on some 31/10.50s or maybe a 32 if I don't have any clearance issues....but no bigger with the 355s & LSD...as I don't plan on doing anything that serious with her at this time. I might do them soon IFFF a smokin' deal came along that I couldn't pass up. But if not, I'll roll the 235s as they only have 10k on the whole set...and most tires don't have extreme value used even with low miles and great condition. And big off-road tires aren't exactly the cheapest mod these days....
Unless you've gotten yours close to retirement and want an almost brand new set of 4 again. We could do a deal if you wanted come up or meet part way. Lemme know. A lot seem to bash this model of tire, but I grew up in the winters of CO and the mountains, and I've never had a single issue running them, so honestly, all four real seasons and mild offroad, they've been great. :) .... if you ask me, I think those who bash them either A: don't know how to drive in bad weather correctly, or B: are trying to use them beyond what they were designed for. Is it a mud tire? no. Have I gotten into and out of mild muddy situations with them? yep...no problem.

I know there is no Jeep in this video but I did drive my Jeep to get to the hiking spot and this thread is titled Arizona. This video is about 3/4 of the way up Superstition Mountain's "Siphon Draw" trail that I hiked this morning. Was about 2-1/2 hours and 5.5 miles total. Amazing scenery and views.

That will look sweet on 31s. That is my goal this year is a lift and 31s. I don't want to go any bigger than that. It's my daily, not a rock crawler.

I'm going to do a test fit on the 31s and 32s to see. I want to make sure that I have enough articulation for mild trails without rubbing.. because I'm not going crazy and cutting or anything... this is my DD too right now.
So I most likely will go with the 31 10.50s I've had that size on other 4x4s I've owned and has always worked out well in the past.

RocketMouse 06-06-2019 10:25 PM

oh and I did a 2" lift on mine front and rear...but it turned out with a more dramatic transformation since my stock suspension was in pretty worn-out shape. I went with Crown heavy duty full leaves in the back with an adjustable shackle and mounting bracket. I kept the front stock springs since they were in good shape...and just did a 2" block/puck under them. So far I've been pretty happy with it as it was a mild enough lift that it won't cause premature wear since the angles didn't change much. :) And my brake lines were plenty long enough to still have length for articulation on trails. Maybe mine had slightly longer ones to begin with... who knows?

and IMHO... while to the 95% out there that are not Jeep owners would never know it's lifted....and the 5% who are will know..... It's a mild lift but I really think it gives her a much better stance over stock without going crazy.

Come on peeps.... let's get this pilot light fired up again...
after the lift...my XJ is much quieter now that I installed all new u-joints... what a PITA to get the original ones out...but well worth the effort. :D
