yeah one actually looks better than 2. I'd do 1 if I had another hood lol.

Looks like the heat displacement would be greater as well. Good job. You might have more people doing 1 now.

Anyone do a Hood vents/ fan combo so it pulls the heat out of the vents better??

Supposedly at a bare minimum, 2000cfm to keep it happy. The Taurus fan is an awesome option being that is has an impressive 4500cfm rating. The downside of the Taurus fan is the 60-90amp startup draw. If you wire it up right there should be no worries. There are plenty of HowTo's out there.

I don't recommend the Taurus fan in an Xj ! It is a very large fan that will not cool the radiator well at all! I had one in my Xj, it was the two speed version, at full speed it would not cool my rig on the street! Stick with your stock clutch fan and upgrade your clutch to a Zj one and keep your electric fan and you will be good

X2 on the zj fan. go to napa only for the part though.
zj fan clutch + hood vents + fan shrouds you should have no more worries about heat.
i did the zj swap and hood vents and am now running under 200 most of the time. the stock electric fan kicks on maybe once or twice a day (i drive my xj about 150-200 miles daily)

Ok guys and gals Saturday the 12th i am planning a 4x4 river trip. My buddy just got back from Afgan so we are planning a little fun!! We be meeting At 9am an the swc of idaho and Superstition at the Circle K. we will be 4x4ing through Bulldog Canyon (easy easy) the going to the river. You will need to get a pass to go through bulldog but the good thing is its free and you can get it online http://www.fs.usda.gov/detailfull/to...179&width=full. I need a head count if you interested. Also if you want to skip the 4x4ing you can just meet us at the river.

I cut four vents in my hood and im going to take the front smaller two and turn them into small hood scoops so it will catch more air being pushed inside then allow more air to be forced out in return i think?

this is the NAPA part #272310

buy only from napa and only this part #. you will most likely get the wrong part if you go anywhere else.
$44 + tax

96twiggyxj 05-02-2012 08:13 PM

You will also see a MPG loss. More rotating mass.
