I am at a loss. Just like many people on here my crank pulley separated on me. I am in the process of fixing it but the crank turns while removing the bolt. I have tried using the belt in all sorts of configurations to stop the thing from turning and I am not sure what else to do. Any help? Suggestions?

 

Take the inspection plate off at the bottom where the engine meets the trans. Use something in teeth of the ring gear to hold the engine from turning.

 

A piston stop or sometimes called a Top Dead Center Stop. Scews into a spark plug hole with an adjustable stop screw. Stops the piston from coming up in the stroke, hence stops the rotation.

Just remember to remove it before you fire up the motor!

 

Impact wrench.. if you don't have an air compressor, rent an electric one (or save the wasted rental $$s and just buy one) You WILL want one.

 

Way to go if you have one.
