Default New to Forum

Hey everyone, new to the forum and wanted to introduce myself. I have a white 95 ZJ Limited with 318, that looks like a 96-98 model (didn't like the gold molding performed a body molding swap). I have had this thing for about 17 years, my first car and still going strong. I have had my share of hiccups, bad radiator, pump (88K), pump again, fan clutch (136k, wish i had switched to electric system then), new Climate control unit (148k). Accessories installed: Flowmaster muffler, high-flow cat, and K&N FIPK. No off road tires, but because of all that i get around 21mpg on highway. not bad considering i have 4wheel drive and a V8. At 151K I entered active duty (AF) and drove my baby cross country to good ol' Texas and as far as Alabama. Stationed in SoCal now, but I do miss Texas.

Anyway,
Now contemplating replacing entire bushings with polyurethane, motor mounts and shocks (up country system currently on). My baby feels like a boat on the high seas , and steering is really lose (steering box needs some love).

Well that's mine and my grand's story so far, we've been together for 17 yrs so far and want to have her as long as I can, she was my first car and don't want to let her go.

Well just wanted to say hello, and if there are any fellow Jeepers in Anaheim/SoCal area hit me up.

Cheers mates!

Kharvey,

Thanks for the welcome, I can't make the big bear trail ride, but would like to go to future events. Need to do some maintenance on my girl, suspension is pretty shot.

Question, do you guys have a favorite Jeep specialist you go to in the area? Would like to get a consult regarding my suspension and I also need a new radiator. Having to add water/coolant to the reservoir every week.

Thanks again!

Make sure you are checking the radiator itself too, not just the reservoir! That sucks, I just got done dealing with some heating issues, mine was solved with having the head machined (after I blew the gasket), and a HD fan clutch.

As far as a shop goes, and I'm going to be obviously bias, but my dad has a shop in Orange, and has years upon years on experience doing off-road rigs, hot rods, custom jobs etc. He does a lot of work on Jeepspeed Jeeps (race vehicles). He's not the CHEAPEST, however they will take a look, tell you what you need, and give you straightforward numbers, no bs tacked on **** and no micky mouse. If you want more info I can provide.

Kharvey,

by all means, please send me your dad's garage info. I would like to see what he says regarding my radiator, it does not overheat even under A/C load. As long as I keep coolant at appropriate levels that is, has a bad leak which can be seen immediately after shut-down.

I would also like to ask about my suspension, would like to swap out all rubber bushings with poly.

Thanks!

Yeah i wouldnt sweat the cooling issue that much, radiators leak especially here in CA when you are by the beach. Just pressure test it and look for leaks. As far as suspensio goes do you want to upgrades? i know Rubicon express makes a kit for my xj the basically replaces all suspension parts on my rig? Always something to look into. Plus with the amount of people here in Socal i wouldnt go to a shop to have it installed, when your ready host a lift kit party haha you supply the drinks and food and we supply the labor and then bs about jeep and ect.

welcome to the forum man

Yeah man no worries, 8544 E. Chapman, Orange CA 92869, its on the corner cant miss it theres a car wash and subway and stuff. I agree with Dagostino480 though, at least to save yourself some cash, but you can always ask questions! Nice to have someone who knows what they are talking about to talk to. Probably should mention his name is Bill, hes USUALLY there but he runs parts and **** throughout the day, but any of the guys can check out your radiator, they're all good.

Maybe yours, I live by the beach and never had issues with a leaky radiator.

Hey Guys!

Im new here too!! My names Jay C. Im from Ventura County area! Been wheeling since I was about 12 with my dad for a long time, untill he got a staff infection and it completely destroyed his body. So pretty much I learned how to wheel on my own. Driving him around and leading the clubs/ friends through trails in his built LJ Rubicon that was indistructable.

Until he sold it. His body was shutting down. He had no muscles in his legs and kateracs in his eyes. Therefore he could not go anywhere nor tow anything.
So, Got my smurf and starting building it up. Been through accidents and close call roll overs but its my life. So if your around the area, Im whilling to meet you guys anywhere for some WHEELING!!!
