big bear is awesome with some decent trails and no heat because its in the forest up in the mountains,
im also going to fun in the desert in september out at jonson valley, prolly running aftershock or riffle canyon, im not sure how tough of trails you are comfortable with. my xj isnt a dd so i dont mind denting a panel or two

Used to live in Ridgecrest. Wagon wheel ROCKS! And a big fan of Red Rock Canyon and Jawbone... Do a search for Panamint Valley Days, should be coming up soon. Death Valley has lots going for it in the winter, plenty of neat stuff to see and do...

sounds like a good trip to plan for. my only worry is that the seasons have been all pushed back so i think it might be hot now until about november this year (Johnson valley was over 100 last Halloween weekend) but definitely a good idea for when it cools down, after king of the hammers of course
