Well a few days ago I bought my very first cherokee, and im very excited! i think i made a ok purchase. It's a -1989 xj 2door 4.0L 4x4- with an auto trans and a 3" lift(says the seller, who didnt buy it). the odo reads 192,000 and it did pass cal smog.I payed 1200
Well this jeep is awesome, but there is a couple things wrong with it.
First was the extreme slop on the steering wheel. It makes it extremely hard to steer at speeds of 35+. the lift kit that was installed must have came with adj track bar and a TB bracket, but the track bar bracket where it hooks up is VERY loose(the bolts). I guess i have 3 options, first being track down who made the lift kit and try to replace the bracket. second I could weld the bracket on. and third I could take the TB bracket off. What do you guys think do? Hopefully it fixes the problem.
heres a few pics of it. ill take more later on

again im very excited to now own a cool cherokee. I am now shopping around for tires, rims, bumpers, recovery points, lights,A rack,cb radio and any 4wheel stuff.
Do you think lockers and steering kits are important at this point or just get it trail ready first?
thanks to whoever replys to this thread, and sorry i took up bandwidth dont flame me im new and happy

Hey bro welcome. Thats a good deal for around this area. You need to tighten up the track bar.
Take a picture of the lift and post it. We might be able to point you in the right direction.

Welcome to CF from alabama. Nice find by the way. And for the lockers and things I would just catch all my regular maintenance things caught up first. Then get your lift/tire combo where you like it. Then start looking at things like a locker and what not. Just my .02 tho

Congratulations on your find. I finally got mine on the road, but I only paid $150 for it (I have about $1000 in it now). I'll try and start a new thread and post pics. Coach
