on Saturday I was aired down to 5lbs, with no beadlocks, pretty much all day, never got stuck and never lost a bead and I towed another jeep with 2 blown beads through one of the nastiest spots on the road. dont be afraid to air down, single digits is where its at when snow wheelin.

Just air down your tires and pay attention when you drive the whole time. I never wheeled in snow before either and after driving off the road a few times I realized talking with passengers and messing with other stuff wasn't worth it. It's real fun though.

There are many maps of Evans, here's one.
Open/Open can go on pretty much everything there. Some stuff is a little off camber.

^ This is not a good map of Evans. No offense, but I would reccomend removing it so that no one prints it out and gets lost up there. There are several missing and mislabeled trails on it. Here is a pdf version of the newest map from the Forest Service. There is a new law stating that you have to have a map when travelling on Forest Service land so make sure you carry one with you when you are at Evans or you can get a ticket. Here is a link to information about that rule and maps for all Forest Service lands within the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. If I'm not too hungover I will be up at Evans on Saturday. I would say that with typical conditions 90% of the trails can be done open/open, but there are a few areas that might deny you like going up the rock face on the 519, the entrance to the 196, parts of the 197, the beginning of the 102. There are plenty of trees around to winch off so as long as you have a winch (and tree saver) everything at Evans is doable. Right now there is a good amount of snow up there so the conditions are not typical and an open/open rig might have some problems. Just in case anyone is too lazy to click on the link to the good map I posted it below. FYI there is a misprint on the map stating that there is a 72" width restriction. This was the old rule, and it has since been increased to 80". As long as you are at or under 80" wide you should not have any problems. If you are wider and get caught up there you may recieve a ticket. Because this is a new rule they have yet to actually write any tickets for it, but will likely start by warning people about it and eventually will be giving citations for it.

ha yeah. Well most the time I never find anyone to go along with it if there is its a newbie. no offence but I'm still a newbie an would like someone that knows to keep .me on the trail when I need some help.
