i have 4 jeeps that i have periodically driven them all in the winter.
best is the yaks tj on 33 inch trxus. (LSD rear)
then my xj on 36 inch iroks (bias). (locked rear)
horrible but doable is my tj (LSD) on 33 inch destination m/t (now on 33 inch goodyear MTR old style) so we'll see this winter.
but worst is the stock xj with crappy all seasons (would be better if had LSD)
then i had my stock v8 dak 4x4 on 30 inch goodyear wrangler ats (LSD) worked great.
but for a car/suv/stocker, i would have to say Nokian Hakkapeliitta, hands down.

From what I have seen beadlocks and PSI make a much bigger difference in snow than the type of tire. For snow it is all about going as low as possible with your air pressure. I usually run about 6 PSI in snow with no bead locks and my tires do pretty well (35-12.5-15 TSL SSR), but would go to 2-3 if I had bead locks. That said I think tires with a more agressive sidewall do the best in snow because when you flatten out the tire your sidewalls will help you bite into the snow better.

10 is ok for no snow (I prefer 9), but in the snow I wouldn't recommend going any higher than 8 unless you have really wide rims. It is tougher to blow a bead in the snow because you dont get as much traction and just dropping down one or 2 PSI lower can make a huge difference.

Yeah, I noticed that after I typed my response. I run 12.5 wide tires so you probably float better than me at higher PSI. It is really all about getting as much surface area of your tire on the snow as possible.
