Default Cubby Sub

Started a mock up of the cubby sub im going to build. I think it looks pretty sweet. Any opinions on mounting? I just thought i would bolt it to the panels and to the floor. The rectangle on the top in where the amp is going to be mounted and bolted down with some heavy duty guard rails.

no measurements have been made yet. this just came from a tracing of the shape from a picture i found somewhere and approximate sizes for components like the amp, woofer, and ports. Ill probably take some measurements this weekend and adjust the design.

Put on a new fuel pump, fixed the taillights (which was a pain) and also changed the belt!

I would like to build one of these as well. I know nothing about subs, though, like how much internal volume they need in the box to be effective, where and how large to port, etc etc

Trimmed my front fenders and cut just below the pinch welds on the rear wheel openings. Picked up some door edge moulding to dress up the cut edges. Put my new rusty's adjustable track bar on hoping to get rid of the occasional pop in the front end but apparently that wasnt the problem, oh well at least I got to get rid of the track bar drop brackets. Still waiting for a good weekend to put my new leafs and coil spacers on.

Each sub will come with size requirements both ported and non in the box. Sealing the sub allows for smaller enclosure, porting unless you have a program for it can be tricky as size, length and where a port is will change how it is tuned

A well tuned properly built box can sound great. But most people slap a hole and tube in then complain how they sound and there is way more to it than that.
So yes for the back yard builder sealed is best

Definitely going with sealed. With a shape like this it would really hard to the get an accurate volume to calculate the port size. I should be done with the box after this weekend. Ill post pics when im done.

The last thing I did to my xj was made a trip to the junkyard to get a distributer cuz my old one was leaking really bad and also pulled some injectors from a caprice(LT1) 24lb 6 hole, came home put em both on and now im happy no more leaks as for the injectors I also installed em over the winter I did a major overhaul with ported 7120 cylinder head milled -0.10 combined with the mopar performance slim head gasket, ported log style intake, 63mm TB & spacer, C.A.I & relocated I.A.T sensor, Banks revolver header with full 2-1/2" exhaust from collector back, prothane motion control motor mounts, and wow what a tourqe monster!
